Job Title: Associate Laboratory Technician

Job Summary: This individual will be responsible for performing the technical aspects of assigned tests in compliance with GLP, USDA and AAALAC guidelines.

Essential Job Functions:

- Performs various tests that may include injections, patching and wrapping, implantation of test substances, observations, necropsies and withdrawing and collecting bodily fluids, following internal SOP/protocol guidelines.

- Handles animals humanely.

- Prepares animals for testing, which may include shaving, weighing, identifying and anesthetizing the animals.

- Works on routine assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.

- Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.

- Works under close supervision from supervisor or senior personnel.

- Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.

- May be required to work Holidays and weekends.

- May be required to work overtime.

- Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.

- Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

- Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.

- Other duties as assigned.

- May be required to assist in other departments.

Job Requirements:

Experience / Education

- Minimum 1 year of experience

- Animal Science background

- GLP/GMP experience

- Associates Degree or equivalent

- CVT certification preferred

- AALAS certification preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

- Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills

- Need to be able to read, write and understand English

- Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to work in a Lab setting with exposure to animals/biohazards/chemical

- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE

- Must be able to work in environment with minimal noise levels

- Ability to stand for long periods of time

- Clarity of vision

- Ability to identify and distinguish colors

- Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions

- Ability to lift 25 lbs routinely/often/occasionally

- Ability to crouch, bend, twist and reach

- Ability to push/pull 25 lbs routinely/often occasionally

- Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing

- Inside working conditions

- Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility
