Cardiology Technician


- Functions under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and Physician to facilitate the safe and effective completion of invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiology procedures.

- Cardiology Technologist possesses knowledge of aseptic technique, human anatomy, more advanced/complex/high-risk cardiology procedures, techniques, and technology.

- Cardiology Technicians are responsible for: The care and handling of highly complex, fragile and delicate equipment; Direct and indirect patient care activities; clinical, clerical, materials management and housekeeping;

- Promoting the values of Hospital and functioning in a manner that is aligned with hospitals' goals for quality care, patient/client satisfaction, and professional standards, scope of the law, cost containment, efficiency, safety and collaborative team effort.

- The Cardiology Technician assists with training of new/less experienced cardiology staff. Participates in QI. Demonstrates ability to prepare and set up for more complex cardiology procedures and assist physicians and nurses during higher risk/low volume procedures. Acts as resource person for the specialty. Takes 24-hour call.

- Explain to the patient the procedure, connect them to monitoring equipment, reassure, & comfort patients during procedures.

- Ensures consents, pre-procedure preparation, confidentiality, and privacy of patients.

- Keep track of supplies; make sure travel cart is ready for use in the ICU or the OR. Restock and order supplies. Clean Cardiology rooms, maintain, troubleshoot & sterilize all Cardiology equipment.

- Follow specific guidelines for each procedure to be performed as per defined protocols

- Accountable for inventory management

- Responsible for checking and monitoring equipment, reports malfunctioning.

- Responsible for timely calibration, preventive maintenance of equipment.

- To perform any job/task as and when assigned by the superior.
