Job Description

Review the Pre-anesthetic assessment and preparing the patients. Any unusual Characteristics of the same to be discussed with consultants /

Sr. Consultants.

Provision of clinical anesthesia services in operation theatre under supervision of Consultant / Sr. Consultant both routine and emergency.

Provision of post-anesthetic care including supervision of the Area (Surgical ICU): monitoring (including clinical observation), pain relief, fluid therapy, respiratory therapy, adverse effects which may be related to anesthesia, preoperative medical problems. If required consultation may be taken from Consultant / Sr. Consultant

- Supervision of paramedical staffs in OT and ICU.

- Acute resuscitation services for the hospital as members of a resuscitation team CODE BLUE team.

- Provide stand by anesthesia / general anesthesia for cardiology interventional procedures in catheterization laboratory.

- Provision of regular departmental meetings for news dissemination.

- Participation in hospital meetings, intra departmental meetings.

- Participating in peer review and quality improvement processes

- Maintain environment for safe anesthesia practice

- Undertake environment for safe anesthetic practice.

- Undertake research in anesthesia in an organized manner where appropriate

- Treat patients and perform clinical procedures as per the clinical privileges authorized.

- Assisting senior consultants and consultant in managing OPD, IPD & Emergencies patients.

- Doing the medical procedure as per the consultant doctors advice/supervision after getting the consent from patients attendant.

- Accompany consultant doctors on IPD Ward visits.

- Monitoring the progress of the patients.

- Check the diet chart, medicine chart, vitals chart frequently.

- Maintaining good relationship with staff, patients and their attendants

- To ensure that patients condition is communicated correctly to the relatives and all their queries are answered appropriately

- Reporting to the duty in time as per the roster

- Strictly adhering to the medical ethics & management rules & regulations.

- To work collectively with the Nursing In charge to bring about quality improvement in the department.

- To ascertain the strict implementation of various working protocols like BLS, ACLS and infection control

Teaching:

- Members of all allied health professions when requested.

- Students and nursing staff

- Operating department assistants

- Attending the training programmes and CMEs as and when required.

- Any other tasks assigned by the HOD/ management from time to time.
