Job Description:
Job Title: Team Lead (TL) - Medical Coding
Department: Coding Operations
Reports To: Manager - Coding Supervises
PURPOSE:
- Participates, monitor and manages a coder production team size of 25 to 40 members based on the business requirement & individual ability that will assist LOGIXHealth with implementing the goals to deliver a coding product that is complete, concise and provides an exceptional service to clients under the Supervision of reporting Team Lead.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Direct control & responsibility on delivery of coding production and quality for each client/agent responsible and maintaining the consistent turnaround time as per the service line of each client.
2. Capable of handling a team size minimum of 25 to maximum of 40 members (Includes LAL-04 to LAL-01 and LJM-02)
3. Check the daily inventory of files for the scheduled clients and ensure assignments are completed as per the schedule. Report the data to the Managers on a daily basis
4. Conduct daily meeting - discuss about client e-mails, updates, and Productivity and Quality data of the team.
5. Track hourly productivity of the coder & team.
6. Check daily queue status for work flow outstanding's of and ensure completed by the coders on a daily basis. If a particular coder is on leave on a given day, assign to GC available to clear the backlogs.
7. Making sure the Coders are meeting their daily desired targets and report any outliers to the project Team Lead & Manager.
8. Constantly monitor the quality scores of the coders, do root cause analysis, improvement plan and report to the Team Lead & Manager.
9. Handling client inquiries with a timely response that gives resolution for the queries
10. RAI enquiries - Request for Additional Information. Handling RAI enquires from client/Document Management team (DM)/Medical Record Administration team (MRA)/ Client services (CS)/Provider Education & Audit (PEA)/Coder Quality (CQ)/ Coding Management (CM)/Coding Applications (CA).
11. Handling inquiries received from internal department such as charge entry, payment posting & provider reimbursement on a timely manner.
12. Review potential defects/errors received from client/CQ/PEA/CS/CA/CM/QC and educate the coder & team
13. Need to involve in daily production as well on a daily basis to meet the Turnaround time for the clients that are handled.
14. Responsibility to complete the assigned task with stipulated timeline given by the reporting officer.
Required Skills:
- Excellent understanding of ICD 10-CM, inpatient and outpatient coding guidelines. Exposure in ED facility and professional coding is an added advantage & maintain a working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding principles, governmental regulations, protocols and third party requirements regarding billing and billing documentation.
- Conduct a review of medical records to ensure compliance with coding and documentation guidelines and governmental requirements. Provide written reports to Managers with results of the auditor findings.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- E-mail Etiquette (Functional only)
- Team Lead is expected to review and read all the e-mails addressed to their e-mail inbox. Based on the intense of the e-mail subject related to client/business requirement; he/she is expected to reply/respond/acknowledge the e-mail.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education (degrees, certificates, licenses, etc.):
- Graduation/Post Graduation/ Diploma or equivalent combination of education from any of the recognized Universities.
- Certification from AAPC or AHIMA will be an added advantage.
Computer Skills:
- Prior word processing, spreadsheet and internet software experience preferred
Experience:
- 4 plus years of experience in Coding is mandatory

9. Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time, use hands, talk, hear and occasionally walk and reach with hands or arms.
10. Strong ability to interpret medical records of the patients in different specialties
11. Able to work under pressure and deliver expected daily productivity targets
12. Can work in toughest of conditions, able to handle diverse clients
13. Ability to work with speed and Accuracy.
Work Environment:
- This position is located in a temperature controlled office environment.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually light to moderate.
