- To be head of the department and in complete charge of a clinical unit and to be responsible for proper care of patients including emergency duties.

- To organise both under-graduate and post-graduate teaching in the subject and to give bed side clinics.

- To plan, organise and conduct and guide research in his subject.

- To be incharge and responsible for the proper maintenance of all the dead stock machines of the department and departmental library.

- To be responsible for proper maintenance of case and filing system in the department.

- To exercise general supervision and maintain discipline among the teaching and non-teaching staff.

- To conduct College examinations in his subject and to supervise and maintain attendance of the students.

- To do any other duties that may be allotted by the head of the college and Hospital
