Technical Skills
- Oncology, pathology and cancer histology educational training
- Clinical and/or research experience diagnosing and treating cancers
- Abstraction best practices and/or cancer registry experience
- Working knowledge of cancer staging, ICD and CPT coding
- Job Knowledge of oncology, primary care, nuclear medicine, standard medical abbreviations and pharmacy terms
- Relevant experience in abstracting oncology case information from medical records, or/and experience in clinical oncology or oncology research, experience of working with oncology data sets (e.g. tumor registry, oncology clinical trials, etc)
- Subject matter expertise in one or several cancer types
- Working knowledge of clinical workflows to understand health information pertinent to various visits and procedures
- Comprehension skills: should be able to read, interpret and respond to business documents
- Good computer navigation skills, keyboarding skills
- Basic knowledge of MS-Office
- Effectively balance quality, timeliness and productivity standards
- Proficiency in written English and ability to paraphrase without altering the meaning of the medical text
- computer literacy - Basic IT knowledge and familiarity of operating systems (Windows)
- Basic Knowledge of using Internet, web browser, search engine, Microsoft excel and word
- Typing skills - 25 words per minute with 90% accuracy
