Medical Gastroenterologist - Healthcare - MBBS/DM/DNB (1-5 yrs)
Job Title: Medical Gastroenterologist
Reports To: Head of Gastroenterology/Medical Director
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Medical Gastroenterologist to join our medical team. The Medical Gastroenterologist will diagnose, treat, and manage disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, liver, and pancreas. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients, manage complex gastroenterological conditions, and collaborate closely with other medical specialists.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnosis and Treatment:
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including but not limited to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastrointestinal bleeding, liver disease, pancreatitis, and gastrointestinal cancers.
- Provide medical management, including medication prescribing, nutritional counseling, and lifestyle management for GI disorders.
- Perform endoscopic procedures (e.g., colonoscopies, upper GI endoscopies) as required.
Patient Care:
- Conduct thorough evaluations, including patient histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients based on the latest clinical guidelines and evidence-based practices.
- Monitor and manage chronic conditions, ensuring ongoing patient care and follow-up.
- Educate patients and families about their conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications to improve quality of life.
Consultation and Collaboration:
- Provide expert consultations to other medical teams and healthcare professionals regarding gastroenterological cases.
- Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists in multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans for patients.
- Advise on appropriate diagnostic testing, such as lab work, imaging, and endoscopic procedures.
Endoscopic Procedures:
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy, upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (gastroscopy), and advanced procedures (e.g., ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound) where applicable.
- Maintain high standards of patient safety and comfort during endoscopic procedures.
- Interpret endoscopic findings and correlate them with clinical data to inform diagnosis and treatment.
Research and Education:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in gastroenterology and incorporate new treatments and techniques into clinical practice.
- Participate in ongoing clinical research projects aimed at improving the understanding and treatment of GI diseases.
- Engage in teaching and mentorship of junior doctors, medical students, and healthcare staff.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes.
- Provide timely, comprehensive documentation for all procedures, diagnoses, and patient interactions.
- Participate in departmental meetings, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
Professional Development:
- Attend and participate in conferences, seminars, and workshops to continue professional education and development.
- Contribute to the academic development of the department through research, presentations, and publications.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Medical degree DM/DNB Medical gastroenterology
- Completion of a recognized gastroenterology fellowship or specialty training.
- Board-certified or equivalent in Gastroenterology.
- Minimum of [X] years of experience as a practicing gastroenterologist.
- Proficiency in performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
- Experience in managing both acute and chronic gastrointestinal diseases.
- Subspecialty expertise in areas such as hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease, or pancreatic disorders is desirable.
