Diagnosis and Evaluation : Nephrologists are responsible for assessing patients with kidney problems by conducting thorough medical evaluations, reviewing medical histories, and performing relevant diagnostic tests. They interpret lab results, imaging studies, and biopsies to diagnose kidney conditions accurately.

Treatment Planning : After diagnosing a patient's condition, nephrologists develop individualized treatment plans based on the specific needs of the patient. They may prescribe medications, recommend lifestyle modifications, and design dietary plans to manage kidney diseases effectively. Additionally, they may provide counseling on managing chronic kidney diseases and dialysis options.

Dialysis Management : Nephrologists oversee the dialysis treatment of patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). monitor patients during dialysis sessions, adjust treatment parameters as needed, and manage complications that may arise during the process. They also educate patients and their families about different dialysis options, including hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

Transplantation : Nephrologists play a crucial role in kidney transplantation programs. They evaluate potential kidney transplant recipients, assess their suitability for the procedure, and coordinate with the transplant team to ensure a successful transplantation process. Nephrologists also provide post-transplant care and manage immunosuppressive medications to prevent organ rejection.

Collaboration and Consultation : Nephrologists often collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including general physicians, urologists, radiologists, and pathologists, to provide comprehensive care to patients. They may also consult with other specialists for complex cases that require a multidisciplinary approach.

Qualifications and Requirements :

Educational requirements :

- Medical degree (MBBS) from a recognized institution.

- Postgraduate degree (DM/MD/DNB) in Nephrology
