Nurse - Hospital (0-2 yrs)

Responsibilities:

- Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures.

- Correct identification of patients according to SOP

- Maintains personal hygiene and comforts of the patient.

- Attends to the nutritional needs of the patient and feeds the helpless patients.

- Implements and maintains day care policies and routines.

- Co-ordinates patient care with various health team members.

- Observing and recording the condition of patients.

- Check inventory of all equipment, crash cart and instruments as per the inventory register in the ICU and inform the senior nurse / In charge nurse in case of any discrepancies noted.

- Making ethical decisions related to consent and confidentiality,

- Carrying out routine investigations & responding quickly to emergencies.

- Ensuring proper handing over of the patient's health is given to the next shift nurse.

- To ensure that all items used for patients inclusive of medications, surgical supplies are duly recorded and charged.

- Accurately record and report incidents.

- Execute physician's orders for all assigned patients; safely and properly administers medications and treatments.

- Check the expiry dates of the medicines and send the medicines nearing expiry to the pharmacy

- Performs technical task, e.g., administration of medication, assisting doctors in various procedures, preparing articles and the patient for medical or nursing procedures, recording vital signs, tube feeding, giving enema, bowel wash dressing, stomach wash, eye and ear care, collection and sending of specimens, pre-and post-operative care. Assists in administration of transfusion, perineal care, breast care etc.

- Maintains intake and output chart.

- Observes change in-patients- condition and records, takes necessary action and reports to the concerned authority.

- Imparts health education to the patient and his/her family.

- Accompanies very ill patients sent to other departments or transferred to other institutions.

- Inform any special events during the shift to the in charge/Nursing supervisor /MOD

- Follow infection control practices

- Frequent and periodic assessments of vulnerable patients

- Patients to be screened for pain management at the time of admission

- Compassionate care to end of life care patients
