Pharmacist - Hospital - B.Pharma/D.Pharma (6-9 yrs)
Job Overview:
The Pharmacist is responsible for the accurate dispensing of prescription medications, advising patients on proper medication use, ensuring safety and compliance with health regulations, and providing professional guidance on pharmaceutical care. The role requires excellent knowledge of pharmaceuticals, a commitment to patient care, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately prepare, dispense, and label prescription medications in compliance with legal and safety standards.
- Patient Counseling: Provide clear instructions and advice to patients regarding the proper use of medications, potential side effects, interactions, and storage instructions.
- Drug Information: Stay up-to-date with the latest pharmaceutical knowledge and drug therapies. Provide guidance to patients and healthcare providers regarding drug information and therapy options.
- Inventory Management: Manage pharmaceutical stock levels, perform inventory audits, and ensure medications are properly stored and tracked.
- Medication Therapy Management (MTM): Assess patients- medication regimens, identify potential issues such as interactions or duplications, and suggest improvements to their care plan.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to pharmaceuticals. Maintain accurate patient records and prescription logs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare teams, including doctors and nurses, to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative duties such as completing patient records, billing, and processing insurance claims.
- Patient Safety: Monitor the safety and effectiveness of medications through follow-up and report any adverse reactions or medication errors promptly.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
- Valid state pharmacist license (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and therapeutic treatments.
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and dispensing systems.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, medical staff, and insurance providers.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong customer service orientation with a focus on patient care and safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certifications such as BCPS (Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist) or BCACP (Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist).
- Experience in a clinical, hospital, or retail pharmacy setting.
- Knowledge of insurance billing and reimbursement processes.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds of pharmaceutical supplies.
- Ability to read and interpret prescriptions, labels, and medication instructions accurately.
