Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Purchase Officer is responsible for planning, procurement, and managing the supply of medicines, surgical items, and pharmacy-related consumables. The role ensures timely availability of quality products at optimal cost while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan and execute purchase of medicines, surgical items, and pharmacy consumables as per requirement.

- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors to ensure best quality, pricing, and delivery timelines.

- Prepare purchase orders (POs) and ensure timely follow-up for dispatch and delivery.

- Maintain optimum inventory levels to avoid stock-outs and overstocking.

- Coordinate with pharmacy, stores, and accounts departments for smooth procurement operations.

- Verify invoices, GRNs, and batch-wise entries including expiry dates and pricing.

- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, NABH norms, and internal SOPs.

- Maintain updated vendor database and product price lists.

- Handle returns, replacements, and expiry-related issues with suppliers.

- Generate purchase and consumption reports as required by management.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Qualification: B.Pharm / D.Pharm (Mandatory)

- Experience: 10-15years of experience in pharmacy purchase (Hospital / Healthcare setup preferred)

Skills & Competencies:

- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products and medical consumables

- Vendor management and negotiation skills

- Inventory management and documentation

- Familiarity with ERP/Hospital Management Systems

- Good coordination and communication skills

- Attention to detail and compliance orientation
