Position Title: Phlebotomist - Home Sample Collection

Location: HSR Layout, Bangalore, Karnataka, India

Job Summary:

As a Phlebotomist specializing in home sample collection, you will be responsible for visiting patients' homes to collect blood samples for diagnostic testing. Your primary objective will be to ensure an accurate and efficient collection of blood specimens while providing compassionate and professional patient care.

Responsibilities:

Home Sample Collection:

- Schedule appointments and organize daily routes for sample collection.

- Travel to patients' homes or other designated locations to collect blood samples.

- Follow proper procedures for venipuncture or fingerstick blood collection.

- Ensure patient comfort and safety during the collection process.

- Verify patient identity and label specimens accurately.

Specimen Handling and Processing:

- Handle blood specimens with care to maintain sample integrity.

- Properly package and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing.

- Complete required documentation, including specimen collection logs and requisition forms.

- Adhere to established protocols for specimen storage and transport.

Quality Assurance:

- Follow standard operating procedures for specimen collection and handling.

- Maintain cleanliness and sterility of equipment and work area.

- Perform regular quality control checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.

- Report any issues or discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.

Customer Service:

- Interact with patients courteously and professionally.

- Address patient concerns or questions regarding the collection process.

- Provide clear instructions for any pre-collection preparations, such as fasting requirements.

- Maintain patient confidentiality and respect their privacy at all times.

Collaboration and Communication:

- Coordinate with laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of specimens.

- Communicate effectively with patients to confirm appointments and provide updates as needed.

- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate sample collection as part of patient care plans.

- Participate in training sessions or meetings to stay updated on best practices and procedural changes.

Qualifications:

- Certification or diploma in Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Technology.

- Previous experience as a phlebotomist or healthcare assistant is preferred.

- Knowledge of venipuncture techniques and blood collection procedures.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with patients of all ages.

- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.

- Attention to detail and accuracy in specimen labeling and documentation.
