Resident Medical Officer - Healthcare (0-6 yrs)

Key Result Areas (KRA) of a Resident Medical Officer (RMO)

1. Patient Care and Management:

- Ensure timely diagnosis and treatment of walk-in patients and management of post-op patients in ICU/ wards or in emergency.

- Monitor the condition of patients in IPD and provide medical care under the supervision of senior doctors.

- Perform routine check-ups, prescribe medications, and follow up on patient progress.

- Handle Annual Health Checkup patients and Pre-Insurance Medical Cases and counsel them to avail Diagnostic Packages at Healic

- Handle emergencies, stabilize patients, and initiate treatment protocols (if any).

2. Coordination and Collaboration:

- Coordinate with visiting consultants, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and consultants to ensure smooth patient care.

- Lead the clinical operations in organizing camps and social interactions related to healthcare awareness

- Facilitate communication between departments such as lab, radiology, and pharmacy to expedite diagnostics and treatments.

- Ensure seamless handover of patient cases during shift changes or duty hours.

3. Documentation and Reporting:

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient history, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge summaries.

- Ensure timely completion of medical records in all procedures and preparation of discharge summary within 2 hours of discharge plan.

- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory documentation in all patient files and TPA related formalities in TPA Cases.

- Keep proper medical records for audits and hospital management purposes.

4. Patient and Family Communication:

- Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding treatment plans, progress, and prognosis.

- Handle patient grievances or concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.

- Address all clinical queries of the patients related to clinical care, lab investigations and Prescriptions

5. OT Resource and Team Management:

- Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the OT department, including allocation of staff during surgeries.

- Ensure that necessary medical supplies, equipment, and drugs are available for patient care before any procedure.

- Ensure timely reporting of any equipment malfunction or need for medical supplies to hospital management.

6. Clinical Supervision and Training:

- Provide guidance to junior medical staff (Nursing/OTA/Pharmacist) - Min. half hour session every Tuesday and maintain records in training register

- Assist in conducting medical training sessions, case discussions, and clinical meetings.

- Supervise and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) within the hospital.

- Random Audit of the hospital inventory, records and registers

7. Compliance and Safety:

- Ensure timely submission of reports to govt. bodies (Form F) etc.

- Daily round of the hospital for overseeing BMW Practices, Proper handling of BMW, Infection Control Practices, Use of PPE during patient handling

- Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, clinical guidelines, and legal/ethical medical practices.

- Ensure infection control measures are followed and report incidents or breaches in safety protocols.

- Participate in hospital quality assurance programs, audits, and ensure patient safety standards.

8. Emergency Response:

- Respond to medical emergencies such as trauma cases, heart attacks, and critical illness and follow all MLC protocols.

- Lead emergency care and make critical decisions for patient stabilization.

- Ensure proper triaging of patients in emergency situation and allocate resources effectively.

These KRAs can vary slightly based on the hospital's size, structure, and specific department or specialty. Also any additional responsibility related to Patient Care or Clinical Operations may be allocated by the management.
