Job Description -

Role - Senior Embryologist

Functional Area - Embryology

Location - Kenya

Position Purpose:

Responsible for assisting IVF Lab Manager with all duties associated with production in the IVF Lab, as well as data entry and communication with other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oocyte searching and grading for maturation.

- Fertilization and culture plate preparation.

- Semen handling and preparation for IVF.

- Fertilization of oocytes.

- Assist in maintaining semen inventory.

- Embryo stripping and culture.

- IVF embryo grading and loading for transfer or shipping.

- Embryo Freezing.

- Recordkeeping/Data Entry.

- Assist in Quality Control and lab cleanliness.

- Maintain good laboratory technique and follow lab protocols.

- Follow Trans Ova's policies and procedures.

- Maintain a professional image reflective of Trans Ova's industry position.

- Attend training in Iowa for several weeks.

- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What You'll Bring:

- Minimum 7+ years embryology laboratory experience

- Must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant laboratory science; Master's degree preferred

- Must demonstrate the ability to function effectively without direct supervision, and to perform laboratory services in accord with the Laboratory Philosophy and Operating Standards

- Proven ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer

- Knowledge of office procedures and office machines (i.e. computer, fax, copier, etc.)

- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

- Ability to work in a high standard, stressful environment

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES :

- A licensed ICSI practitioner competent in a wide range of ART techniques including: IVF, IUI, gamete and embryo cryopreservation and vitrification, PESA/TESA, routine semen assessments.

- Excellent interpersonal skills.

- Excellent communication skills both written and spoken.
