Senior Registrar - ICU - Healthcare - MBBS (1-5 yrs)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Registrar for our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with at least 1 year of work experience in an ICU setting. The ideal candidate will have an MBBS degree and will be responsible for providing high-level medical care and leadership within the ICU. The Senior Registrar will work closely with ICU consultants to manage critically ill patients and ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Management:

- Provide advanced medical care to critically ill patients, including monitoring and managing complex clinical conditions.

- Supervise patient care in the ICU, including performing regular rounds, reviewing patient progress, and adjusting treatment plans.

- Administer medications, manage ventilatory support, and ensure the proper functioning of life-saving equipment.

- Assist in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic medical conditions in the ICU.

- Lead care coordination with multidisciplinary teams including nursing staff, physiotherapists, and other specialists.

Procedural Skills:

- Perform critical procedures such as central line placement, arterial line insertion, intubation, and others as required.

- Oversee the safe use of ICU equipment and ensure all necessary interventions are performed in a timely and effective manner.

Emergency Management:

- Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency situations, including code blue and resuscitation procedures.

- Provide immediate care for deteriorating patients, including the initiation of life-saving measures and critical interventions.

Supervision & Training:

- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior registrars and medical staff in the ICU.

- Contribute to medical education by participating in case discussions, journal clubs, and in-service training for the ICU team.

Clinical Leadership:

- Ensure high standards of medical practice, patient care, and documentation in the ICU.

- Participate in the continuous improvement of ICU protocols, guidelines, and policies to enhance patient safety and care.

- Collaborate with consultants to review ICU admissions and discharge criteria, and develop individualized patient care plans.

Communication:

- Communicate effectively with patients- families, explaining the condition, treatment options, and progress of care.

- Participate in daily handovers and team meetings to ensure clear communication of patient status and treatment plans.

Qualifications and Experience:

- MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution.

- Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in an ICU setting.

- CCM certification required.

- Experience in managing critically ill patients and familiarity with ICU equipment and life support systems.
