Job Summary:
The Fresher Senior Resident in Biochemistry will be responsible for assisting in the clinical and laboratory functions of the biochemistry department. This position involves conducting laboratory investigations, providing diagnostic assistance, managing lab operations, and supporting academic and research activities. The role will also offer the individual an opportunity to engage in teaching, patient care, and the development of research projects under the supervision of senior consultants.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Biochemistry Support:
Assist in performing a range of laboratory tests, including biochemical, hematological, and immunological assays.
Ensure proper sample collection, handling, and processing of specimens for testing.
Maintain accurate records of tests, results, and clinical data.
Collaborate with clinical teams to provide relevant biochemical data for diagnosis and treatment.
Diagnostic and Analytical Work:
Analyze laboratory data and provide critical insights to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
Interpret test results in coordination with the medical team and provide recommendations for further diagnostic investigations when necessary.
Quality Control & Assurance:
Ensure that laboratory procedures follow standard operating protocols, with strict adherence to quality control measures.
Help in monitoring the quality of reagents, instruments, and testing processes to maintain the reliability of results.
Teaching & Training:
Assist in training undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, junior residents, and laboratory staff.
Deliver lectures and practical sessions related to biochemistry, diagnostics, and laboratory procedures.
Participate in academic discussions and case studies.
Research & Development:
Assist in ongoing research projects related to clinical biochemistry, including data collection, analysis, and writing reports.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in biochemistry and contribute to the development of new diagnostic tests and methodologies.
Participate in academic publications, clinical trials, and institutional research programs.
Laboratory Management & Administration:
Assist with the organization and management of laboratory resources, including supplies, equipment, and human resources.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the laboratory setting.
Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain proper documentation.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
M.D. in Biochemistry or M.S. in Biochemistry
Fresh graduates from a recognized medical institution or relevant academic background.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of biochemical principles and laboratory practices.
Knowledge of laboratory instruments and their maintenance.
Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
A passion for teaching and research in biochemistry.
Preferred Experience:
While this position is for freshers, any hands-on internship, project work, or exposure to clinical settings during academic training is a plus.
