Job Summary: The Senior Resident in Psychiatry plays a critical role in the training and development of junior residents and medical students, while also providing high-quality patient care. This role involves advanced clinical responsibilities, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and management of psychiatric disorders, as well as participating in teaching and administrative activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including mental status exams and diagnostic assessments.

- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with various psychiatric conditions.

- Conduct psychotherapeutic interventions and medication management, ensuring evidence-based practice.

- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.

Supervision and Teaching:

- Supervise and mentor junior residents and medical students, offering guidance and feedback on clinical skills and professionalism.

- Lead case discussions, teaching rounds, and educational sessions.

- Assist in the development and delivery of educational materials and lectures.

Administrative Duties:

- Participate in departmental meetings, contributing to case reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and policy development.

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in electronic health records.

- Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory standards for patient care and safety.

Collaboration:

- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to provide holistic patient care.

- Engage in consultations with other medical and surgical specialties as needed.

Professional Development:

- Stay current with advancements in psychiatric medicine and participate in continuing education opportunities.

- Engage in research activities, if applicable, and contribute to the advancement of psychiatric knowledge.

Qualifications:

Education: MBBS, MS/MD, DNB

Experience: Completion of Psychiatry Residency Program and eligibility for board certification in Psychiatry.
