Job Overview:

- The Senior Veterinary Nurse supports the specialist surgeon in surgeries and consultations, manages anaesthesia and patient recovery, and ensures the preparation and sterilisation of surgical equipment.

- The role includes providing direct patient care, assisting with diagnostics and treatments, maintaining clinic cleanliness and facilities, and caring for in-house patients.

- Additionally, the nurse communicates with clients, mentors junior staff, participates in ward activities, and pursues ongoing professional development.

Job Description:

- Assist the specialist surgeon during surgeries and consultations

- Monitor anaesthesia and manage recovery for all surgical cases

- Prepare, clean, sterilise, and pack surgical instruments and equipment

- Provide patient care, including taking radiographs, restraining patients for consultations and treatments, and preparing and administering food to inhouse patients

- Perform cleaning duties, including cages, general areas of the clinic, and treatment, prep, and surgery rooms, along with maintaining clinic facilities and caring for resident patients

- Train and mentor junior veterinary technicians as needed

- Communicate with clients regarding patient care and updates

- Assist with the admission and discharge of patients

- Support ward activities during downtime

- Participate in in-patient rounds and engage in self-directed learning, such as attending continuing professional development lectures and reading relevant books and journals

Desired Profile :

- Diploma in veterinary technology/Diploma Veterinary Nursing.

- 3-5 years Experience in a GP veterinary clinic/hospital
