Emergency and Critical Care Senior Veterinary Nurse - Night

Role overview:

- This role involves providing vital support in emergency and critical care settings, including triaging new case admissions, assisting with anaesthesia monitoring, and aiding in the care of ICU patients.

- Responsibilities also include taking radiographs, restraining patients, preparing for surgeries, and managing postoperative recovery. The role requires effective client communication and active participation in in-patient rounds, selflearning, and professional development.

- Additionally, the position includes training junior staff and ensuring high standards of patient care.

Job Description:

- Triage and assist with new case admissions.

- Aid with anaesthesia monitoring and recovery of emergency cases.

- Assisting the emergency vets in the care and treatment of inpatients including ICU cases.

- Monitoring critical patients in the ICU ward.

- Taking radiographs.

- Restraining patients for examination and treatments.

- Discharging patients, preparing patients for surgeries and postoperative bandaging and recovery.

- Client communication.

- Attend in-patient rounds and engage in self-learning such as attending continuing development lectures and reading of books and journals.

- Training of junior nurses and patient care assistants.

- Working Hours: Night Shifts, 7pm - 7am, alternate 3 / 4 day work week, including Public Holiday and weekend

Desired skills and experience:

Senior Nurse:

- Degree or Diploma in veterinary technology or relevant nursing qualifications.

- At least seven (7) years of work experience in the veterinary industry.

- A minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience is preferred.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
