Job Summary:
As an X-Ray Technician licensed in Karnataka, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations to assist medical professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Your role will involve operating X-ray equipment, ensuring patient safety, and producing high-quality images for interpretation by radiologists or other healthcare providers.
Responsibilities:
Perform X-Ray Procedures:
- Position patients appropriately for X-ray imaging procedures.
- Operate X-ray equipment to capture diagnostic images of specified body parts as requested by physicians.
- Adjust X-ray equipment settings to ensure optimal image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Follow established protocols and safety procedures to protect patients and staff from unnecessary radiation exposure.
Patient Care:
- Prepare patients for X-ray procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns or questions.
- Ensure patient comfort and cooperation during imaging procedures, providing support as needed.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in healthcare.
Equipment Maintenance and Quality Control:
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of X-ray equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot any technical issues as needed.
- Conduct quality assurance tests on X-ray machines and accessories to ensure image quality and safety standards are met.
Documentation and Recordkeeping:
- Accurately record patient information, imaging parameters, and other relevant data in medical records or electronic systems.
- Maintain detailed records of X-ray procedures performed, including patient history and exposure factors.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for documentation and recordkeeping.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members regarding X-ray procedures and results.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other medical professionals to ensure accurate interpretation of imaging studies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care discussions as needed.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Medical Radiography or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Valid license or certification to practice as an X-Ray Technician issued by the Karnataka State Medical Radiation Technology Board.
- Proficiency in operating X-ray equipment and related imaging technology.
- Knowledge of radiation safety principles and best practices for minimizing radiation exposure.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in positioning patients and capturing diagnostic images.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working as an X-Ray Technician in a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with digital X-ray technology and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent.
