ZenOnco.io - Oncology Nurse (2-3 yrs)

Duties and Responsibilities :

- Provides direct nursing care for specified patients, including appropriate supportive care and administration of chemotherapy, blood components, fluid and electrolyte replacements, and other oncology treatments as prescribed.

- Performs nursing assessments and triage of patient care needs for new and ongoing patients.

- Provides education to patients, families, and significant others; acts as an information resource to staff, health care professionals, patients, and the public.

- Provides family support as required, including applicable referrals and process counselling.

- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.

- May train and guide other junior or observer or locum nursing and support staff engaged in clinical activities; may participate in research and related activities with prior approval.

- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Maintaining the required stocks and supplies at the Day care unit and coordinating with the IP pharmacy Personel. Updating the tracker and checklist provided and instructed by the institutions are mandatory.

Minimum Job Requirements :

- B.Sc in Nursing (Not applicable for ANM/GNM); at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Valid KCN is mandatory.

- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :

- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.

- Knowledge of oncology treatment procedures, facilities and equipment.

- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.

- Ability to perform nursing assessments and patient triage.

- Knowledge of supportive care principles and techniques for oncology patients.

- Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment.

- Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.

- Knowledge of the nature and treatments of oncological diseases and of reactions and side effects of related therapy methods.

- Patient assessment and referral skills.

- Conditions of Employment

- CPR Certified.

- Must maintain certification and/or licensure status.

- Required to complete department-specific professional development activities.

- May be required to submit immunization records for review for required vaccines and TB testing.

- Need to submit the Hepatitis vaccination certificate, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.

- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the mandate vaccination requirement.

- Working Conditions and Physical Effort

- Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
